Huge, enormous, an uncontrollable sprawl, these words and more may pop into your head the first time you lay eyes on Houston. Houston is the largest city in the US thanks to no urban restrictions and developers desires to just keep on building. And this brings the main point to remember while in Houston, apart from the Downtown area, nothing, absolutely nothing is in walking distance due to the size of a the city. We came during March for 2 prime reasons, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and Houston’s Children’s Festival. The Rodeo is the biggest in the world, and if you’ve never seen a rodeo or are an avid fan, this is a prime event for you. There is a variety of activities as well as several musical groups. The Children’s festival is almost as good as a Disneyland trip for the kids. With hundreds of events and attractions, you won’t have a problem keeping the little ones busy. The problem will be when you want to leave! The Museum district in Houston is impressive and there are many high quality museums with the Holocaust museum the most haunting. Space Centre Houston is another must see with tonnes of hands-on activities and loads of information. You can even take a look at the original Apollo and Mercury launch vehicles.
